The toxicity of chemical compounds on cells can be monitored kinetically using the reagent CellTox™ Green. This reagent is a non-fluorescent dye that can only enter the cell if the plasma membrane is ruptured. Once in the cell, the dye binds to the nuclear DNA and becomes fluorescent, allowing counting of damaged and dead cells.
